Train your dog
When it comes to dog training, most people are very perplexed. They don’t really know how to do it. They either pay and go to a class where they take their dog and get them to learn basic obedience, or they don’t bother in the least and end up having a doggy that does whatever it wants.
What is the easiest way to avoid this?
Find some good dog training guides. When it comes to training puppies, it’s not really that hard of a task. Most puppies are actually smarter than we think, we just have to learn the best way to train them. In case you go and find a book that teaches you ways to train puppies, you will have no trouble teaching your dog basic obedience skills.
What should you hope for in relation to training your dog?
Well, plenty of repetition, that’s for sure. The one way to train a dog is to do the same thing over and over again. It’s not like you are teaching a child something - you have to work slowly and repeat the same things over and over with a pet dog until finally it becomes a habit. It sounds quite bad, but as soon as you get the basics down, it's going to actually be pretty entertaining. When you spend more time with your dog, you are going to create a bond that will last for the rest of your canine's life.
How long should you expect the whole training process to take?
That will depend on a wide variety of factors. Usually, it can take any where from 4 weeks to a few months to get the basics down, and a few years to teach your dog everything they possibly need to know. Getting a dog to sit, stay, and return to you isn’t that tough, but when you get into more difficult concepts, it can take a while.
In order to prepare your canine, start off young, purchase a book to help you, and just don’t give up. When your pet dog has all the obedience skills it needs and behaves all the time, you will see your efforts were well worth it.
